Welcome to ANZAED! The Australia and New Zealand Academy of Eating Disorders is a the peak body representing and supporting the activities of all professionals working in the field of eating disorders and related issues.

We are aware of the large number of complex issues there are to address at social, community and individual levels. As a group we represent professionals working at the level of prevention, treatment, and research into the broad spectrum of eating disorders.

ANZAED aim to provide opportunities for members' collegial interaction and sharing of knowledge and resources.. ANZAED also has an important role as a bi-national organisation to work for improved services and care, further research and understanding in the area of Eating Disorders, and work co-operatively and in partnership with similar bodies internationally, notably our 'sister' organisation the international Academy of Eating Disorders (AED).

Research: Anorexia Recovery  

We are seeking input from individuals who have recovered from anorexia (and have previously spent time in an inpatient unit), parents/carers of such individuals, clinicians with experience working with inpatients with anorexia nervosa, and researchers, to help guide the development of a structured writing resource for inpatients with anorexia nervosa that may benefit them therapeutically.

NHMRC PROJECT GRANT AWARDED TO SUSAN BYRNE
ANZAED member, Dr. Sue Byrne, Associate Professor at UWA and Research Consultant at the Centre for Clinical Interventions, has been awarded an NHMRC Project Grant of $584,125 to evaluate three promising new treatments for anorexia nervosa (AN) in adults.
